Arrive at a remote, modern homestead nestled in the picturesque Silver Bay Fjord. Here, you’ll enjoy storytelling, s’mores, snacks, and hot beverages while soaking in the stunning scenery. On the return trip, take a different sightseeing route to continue your wildlife exploration. This unique experience combines the beauty of nature with the comforts of a cozy retreat, making it the perfect excursion for nature lovers and adventure seekers.
Tour Details
Begin your adventure by boarding a comfortable, fully enclosed, and heated expedition catamaran at the Sitka Sound Cruise Terminal. Once aboard, enjoy a scenic cruise through the Sitka Sound, renowned for its abundant wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for sea otters, humpback whales, and bald eagles. The journey continues into the Silver Bay Fjord, where you can scan the coastline for the ABC brown bear, a unique species endemic to the area.
Pause for a view of Medvejie Hatchery in Bear Cove, one of the most successful contributors to wild salmon populations in Southeast Alaska. After Bear Cove, you’ll proceed to the McGraw Family Homestead, where friendly camp hosts will welcome you to this historic site with a campfire. Enjoy a warm beverage while sampling locally caught and smoked salmon on crackers, and indulge in everyone’s favorite campfire snack, s’mores!
After approximately 40 minutes at the homestead, we will re-board the Coastal Adventurer for the return cruise to the Sitka Sound Cruise Terminal. Relax and take in the natural wonders and stunning mountain views, including the majestic Mount Edgecumbe, Sitka’s landmark volcano. Your captain will choose a different route back, allowing you to see even more jaw-dropping scenery and increasing your chances of spotting additional wildlife.

Snack that consists of Smoked salmon and kelp pickles on crackers, S’mores, Hot Chocolate, Coffee, canned water.
You Bring
Layered clothing, comfortable shoes and a warm hat. Sun glasses, camera, binoculars, gloves, and rain gear are suggested.
