Overview

Enjoy the dynamic breathtaking beauty of the Sitka Sound coastline.  Take a short walk from your ship to a custom-built state of the art expedition catamaran, where your friendly captain and crew are ready to facilitate a spectacular sightseeing adventure.   Enjoy the rugged and wild Sitka Sound coastline, including grandiose mountains, glacially carved fjords, and a vast array of teardrop islands from the comfort of a warm indoor cabin or an adventurous outdoor observation deck.  Keep your camera ready for wildlife sightings or scan the shoreline with a pair of provided binoculars.  Learn about the geological, natural, and cultural history of the area from your seasoned captain and knowledgeable deckhands.

Tour Details

Your adventure begins the moment you step off your cruise ship and are greeted by your friendly tour representative, who will give you a brief orientation of Sitka Sound Cruise Terminal, including nearby restroom facilities.  Then, you will be escorted to a brand new, state of the art, custom built expedition catamaran, conveniently located just steps away from the cruise ship dock.  Your friendly vessel crew will provide a warm welcome and safety briefing.  Once underway, you’ll follow a route carefully selected by your experienced captain, who will take the time of year, seasonal migration patterns, recent wildlife sightings, and weather conditions into consideration as they craft an optimal marine sightseeing adventure.  You’ll navigate Sitka Sound, one of the most spectacular and dynamic seascapes in the world.  Cruise past majestic mountains – either snowcapped, blanketed in lush greenery, or both, and learn about the glacial and/or volcanic activity that shaped them thousands of years ago.  Enjoy a hot or cold beverage to accompany the informative and engaging narration from your captain and crew.  Let their descriptions of the area’s natural and cultural history enrich your experience as you scan the breathtaking scenery.  Keep an eye out for wildlife common to the area including eagles, sea otters, porpoise, whales and more from the comfort of your seat, or brave the elements on one of the outdoor observation decks.  After the cruise, decompress with lunch or shopping at the Sitka Sound Cruise Terminal or take the complimentary shuttle into downtown Sitka.
